Yes, there is the whole gender switch of Sherlock Holmes and the main support characters, but there's so much more than that. It's also bursting with feminism, which, if you've read any of my rants, you'll know that I tend to focus on.a bit. It's a slow burn mystery, and a slow burn character study. I grew up on Dumas and Dickens - those glorious windbags - so books that linger on details and delve into the day to day aspects of the lives of the characters in them, ESPECIALLY when those details concern the minutiae of a historic time period, really get my bookish rocks off. The first thing you should know is that I have a long attention span.
